- Kfest 2002 was held July 22 through the 27th at Avila University,
and was by all accounts a successful venture. While attendance was down
this year compared to prior years, those people making the trek to Kansas
City report a fun-filled and interesting time. More reports on Kfest,
including photos and QuickTime movies of the presentations can be found at
http://www.a2central.com/features/kfest02/index.html

- The KansasFest committee announced July 22-27, 2003 as the dates for
KansasFest 2003. Because of the lowered attendance this year, the
committee with cautious optimism warns that Kfest 2003 being held will
hinge on registration numbers

- Eric Shepherd of Syndicomm announced that after negotiations with
Softdisk, all of the Softdisk G-S software as well as all 82 issues of the
publication itself are now available on one CD-ROM from Syndicomm's online
store. located at http://store.Syndicomm.com/ The announcement, code
named "Project Barney" was made at Kfest. Softdisk's 8-bit software
as well as the Uptime publication will
also be released at a future date.

- Richard Bennett-Forrest, the developer of the Marinetti TCP/IP stack
couldn't attend Kfest this year, but did send a videotaped
presentation. Richard talked about the development and ongoing work on
Marinetti, and announced the development of a Java-based Apple IIGS
emulator, code named "Florence." It was also announced that Richard and
Doug Cuff will be joining Juiced.GS as a regular contributor to the
magazine. Subscription information for Juiced.GS can be found at
http://www.juiced.gs

- After viewing a demonstration of the CompactFlash for Apple II
interface card, those attending Kfest placed enough orders to go through
Rich Dreher's remaining stock of the original batch of 100 cards. If
there's enough interest, Rich will consider ordering more components for
another batch. For more information and to put your name on an
interest/waiting list, visit his website
